LOS CABOS TOURISM BOARD ANNOUNCES 2007 FESTIVAL OF
RHYTHM, COLOR & FLAVOR, DECEMBER 1 –8
Los
Cabos, Mexico (August 1, 2007) – The Los Cabos Tourism
Board today announced they will once again join forces
with The Public Relations Association of Los Cabos,
The Restaurant Association (CANIRAC), The VATEL Chefs
Association , The Association of Chefs of Baja, The
Association of Destination Management Companies as
well as the municipal Government through the office of
the Mayor and the Director of Tourism to celebrate the
destination’s brilliance in gastronomy in a culinary
festival, December 1-8, 2007.
Officially named
the ‘Festival of Rhythm, Color & Flavor of Los Cabos,’
the week-long fiesta will utilize the destination’s
dramatic landscape and cultural wealth as a stunning
backdrop on which to showcase the culinary expertise
of Los Cabos chefs.
“The Festival in
itself has become a wonderful opportunity for the
local community, travelers to Los Cabos, and our
tourism professionals to celebrate together,” says
Ella Messerli, Vice President of Operations for the
Los Cabos Tourism Board. “The concept of this new
tradition, now in its fourth year, is to promote Los
Cabos in a different light, focusing on our culinary
and cultural riches.”
The Festival will
kick off Saturday, December 1, with a star-lit and
lively event hosted by The Restaurant Association (CANIRAC)
held at El Tule Beach featuring a lavish buffet of
signature dishes from area restaurants accompanied by
a selection of wines from the Baja region. The week
will continue to showcase the destination’s innovative
cuisine with chefs at renowned resorts and restaurants
from throughout the destination preparing special
Festival menus of exotic dishes as well as traditional
Baja cuisine. On December 7 amidst the colonial
setting of the Plaza Mijares Square in downtown San
Jose del Cabo, The Public Relations Association of Los
Cabos will host a fair featuring live music and
traditional and innovative Mexican fare from some of
the most prestigious local eateries. The festival will
come to a dramatic close on December 8, with a unique
‘Dinner in the Desert’ as the San Carlos Canyon is
transformed by the Hotel Association into an elegant
lounge setting offering fireside dining on fresh
seafood, fine cuts of beef, gourmet trimmings,
delectable drinks and live entertainment.
For travelers
wishing to experience the 2007 Culinary Festival,
costs and special offerings are as follows. A table
of ten at El Tule beach event is $100 USD, the San
Carlos Canyon event is priced at $60 per person, and
the cost of Plaza Mijares event is yet to be
determined. New to this year’s festival will be
special package offerings with participating hotels.
Festival and hotel packages will be available as well
as air-inclusive packages.
All proceeds from the ‘Festival of Rhythm,
Color & Flavor of Los Cabos’ are donated to local
organizations that work to insure the comfort and
safety of visitors to and residents of Los Cabos. In
2006, $65,000 was contributed to the San Jose del Cabo
and Cabo San Lucas Fire Departments as well as the
Mexican Red Cross.
