WITH NEW FLIGHTS
Mexico’s Most Popular Resort Destination Celebrates
Another Banner Year With 17% Increase in Hotel Occupancy and New Flight
Access
Los Cabos, Mexico (May 2, 2005) – Los Cabos continues
to embrace its well-earned reputation for being the most prestigious and
fastest growing travel destination in Mexico. In comparison of years
past, proof is evident that Los Cabos is hot.
By significantly surpassing already healthy numbers,
Los Cabos is confirming its place as the fastest growing destination in
Mexico and one of American travelers’ most appealing travel spots for
business and pleasure. As of April 2005 the destination reports 10,273
hotel rooms, up from 9200 in September 2004. Occupancy rates are on the
rise as well. Our latest s tatistics
show that hotel occupancy for January and February 2005 averaged 70%,
while the same period in 2004 yielded 53%. And while complete data is not
yet available for March 2005, advance reports show that occupancy was at
an incredible 89% during the Easter holiday, up 16% over 2004.
In addition, Los Cabos is experiencing increased
airlift with more flights servicing the destination than ever before.
January of this year saw 26% more flights arriving in Los Cabos than the
year prior; 27% more in February, 31% more in March and a dramatic
increase of 33% more flights arriving in April 2005 as compared to 2004.
New and extended service marks more good news for the
destination.
Delta ’s highly
successful Salt Lake City route will continue through November 2005.
Mexicana has recently added Sacramento and Las Vegas
to its roster of gateway cities and has extended weekly service from
both of these gateways through the summer season. They also boosted the
number of seats available to Los Cabos on their Los Angeles daily
non-stop. Additionally, Mexicana recently introduced a Monday/Friday
charter service from its Oakland gateway on January 8.
Frontier ’s Denver daily
nonstop route proved a great success this winter and has been extended
to operate on a daily basis from May 8 to June 18, with 3x weekly
service thereafter until July 9.
United recently added daily non-stop service on TED
from San Francisco, which has been so successful that they will retain
a 4x weekly frequency over the summer. United also recently started
once weekly service from Denver and will grow the frequency to 4x a
week from May 1 through the summer season due to the success on that
route.
American Airlines has extended its daily Chicago
service through May 5 and will operate 2x weekly until October 2005.
Its Los Angeles daily non-stop service will grow to two daily non-stops
from June 9 through August 21, 2005.
America West boosted its Las Vegas flights from 4x a
week to daily effective March 4. Their San Diego service on Mesa also
grew from 4x a week to daily service effective March 6. And the America
West Phoenix gateway will go from 23 flights a week to 29 weekly
effective April 3.
Continental will be increasing flights from Houston
to 25x a week effective July 2 and their Newark service will continue
at a 2x a week frequency in the summer months from July to September 6.
Just announced, the Newark service will go daily effective January 2006
in time for peak travel season.

also considering adding or extending charter service into Los Cabos in
the coming year.
